ALAFIA KIDS!

Friday 11 July - 10:00 AM | Sunday 13 July - 12:30 PM

Alafia Kids!

In a world dominated by mobile devices, children need moments to step away and immerse themselves in art, nature, poetry, and music. At Alafia Kids, we believe this balance sparks creativity and new ideas. We invite children to embark on an enriching adventure of dance, rhythm, poetry, and music, inspired by Afro-Cuban traditions.

Our programme transports kids to an Afro-Cuban paradise, where rhythm and movement come alive. Through Afro-Cuban dance and theatre, they’ll connect with mystical and natural worlds, fostering creativity and self-expression in a nurturing environment. Afro-Cuban traditions are lively, rich, and vibrant, drawing from African heritage, Cuban culture, and the diaspora’s rhythmic legacy. Stories of the Yoruba orishas (deities) infuse dance and music, creating an experience of wonder and growth.

The Programme

Over three days, children will enjoy dance, music, crafts, and storytelling that spark imagination and cultural awareness. Each day features a different orisha and hands-on activities.

  • Day 1: Eleggua, Orisha of Crossroads – Mask-making and Afro-Cuban rhythms.

  • Day 2: Changó, Orisha of Thunder – Crown creation and powerful dance.

  • Day 3: Oshun, Orisha of Beauty – Bracelet crafting and flowing river dances.

Let’s celebrate the joy of dance and music with Alafia Kids!

Age: 6-12

Price: £5 for the entire Festival (3 mornings of activities).
