In Conversation with Loipa Araujo

We are delighted to invite you to an upcoming In Conversation with Loipa Araujo. This event will take place on Wednesday, 26 March 2025, at the Acosta Dance Centre from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

We are honoured to host an In Conversation discussion with Loipa Araujo, where she will focus on the Cuban curriculum. This open conversation will allow dancers, teachers and those who are interested in the world of dance to engage with Loipa’s vast knowledge of the methodology, structure and application of the Cuban training approach.

This event will be preceded by a Choreographic Fellowship Sharing Session with Edit Domoszali from 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM.  In collaboration with our current cohort of Acosta Advanced Training Hub dancers, this session offers a unique opportunity to experience her choreographic voice and gain insight into her creative process.

Loipa Araujo, known as one of the ‘Four jewels of Cuban Ballet’, is highly respected and sought after worldwide for her unique style and teaching skills. She has served as a Principal Teacher at Ballet Nacional de Cuba and as a Principal Guest Teacher at prestigious institutions including Teatro dell’Opera (Rome), Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Operá Nacional de Bordeaux, Maggio Fiorentino (Florence), Teatro di San Carlos (Naples), Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet and Béjart Ballet. Her accolades include the Gold Medal in Varna (1965) and a Silver in Moscow (1969), and a Gold Star at the Champs Elysées Ballet Festival (1970). She is also a recipient of the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (France) and Orden Félix Varela (Cuba).
