About the Programme

This exciting and interactive day introduces children to the vibrant world of Latin dance, weaving together music, movement, history, and creativity. Through age-appropriate sessions, children will explore the roots of Afro-Latino rhythms, develop coordination and musicality, and participate in cultural storytelling.

The programme concludes with a combined dance activity and a mini showcase for parents, building confidence and a sense of community.

• Dance & Movement – Builds coordination, self-confidence, and social skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Schedule

Group 1: Rhythm Explorers (Ages 6–8)

10:00 – 10:45 AM | Myths & Masks: A Storytelling Studio Adventure

• Storytime introduction to Afro-Cuban culture through tales of the Orishas Changó and Yemayá.

• Mask-making workshop to connect the story to a creative, hands-on activity.

10:45 – 11:30 AM | The Orisha Parade & Story-Dance

• Rhythm warm-up with masks and instruments.

• Imaginative storytelling through dance and rhythm, culminating in a group performance.

11:30 AM – 12:15 PM | Animal Dance Party & Mirror Magic

• Playful animal-inspired warm-up.

• Mirror games are used to develop observation and coordination.

• Introduction to basic Salsa and Bachata steps in a fun, simple format.

12:15 – 1:00 PM | Lunch Break

Group 2: Movement Travellers (Ages 9–13)

10:00 – 10:45 AM | The Human Rhythm Map with Passport

• Journey from Africa to the Caribbean through narrated history, symbolic movement, and dance.

• Passport stamping and notes/drawings to reinforce learning.

10:45 – 11:30 AM | Musicality & Rhythm

• Listening session to identify instruments and rhythm breaks in Salsa and Bachata.

• Group challenge: create a short percussion “story” inspired by themed prompts.

11:30 AM – 12:15 PM | Dance & Choreography

• Learn basic Salsa and Bachata steps.

• Work on simple group formations and choreography.

12:15 – 1:00 PM | Lunch Break

Combined Session (Both Groups)

1:00 – 1:45 PM | Follow-the-Leader Dance Jam

• Energetic joint session with steps and movements from both age group modules.

1:45 – 2:00 PM | Final Showcase & Wrap-Up

• Short presentation for parents.

• Group photo to celebrate the day.
